INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT

Studio NUBA

A space designed to transform the way we imagine, create, and experience travel.

The proposal for NUBA's new space in Barcelona was a great challenge. This place had to represent the brand's new strategy, based on the three pillars of art, gastronomy and well-being, and be very aligned with its rebranding. To achieve this, we carried out an exhaustive study of the brand and its wide range of trips and experiences, thus understanding its evolution over the years.

We fell in love with the area from the very beginning.
Our analysis of the surroundings confirmed that the location was perfect. The Sarrià-Sant Gervasi neighborhood, and "Plaça de l'Església Redona" in particular, captivated us from the first moment.
We discovered a great variety of interesting places around us: Turó Park, Alzueta Gallery, designer furniture stores like Tresserra Collection or Ri House, architecture studios, local businesses with the best offerings, a hardware store that saved our setup (which our mother would have loved), and renowned establishments such as Semon, Oriol Balaguer, and Isabella's.

Representation of the 3 business pillars

This space is a tribute to the craftsmanship and trades that shaped it.

Carpenters, marble workers, upholsterers, painters, and others, who with their hands transformed this place into a home where beauty is revealed in every detail.

It is manifested in the light filtering through the patio's latticework (Cerámicas Ferrés), in the texture of the carved stone in each room, in the play of light and reflections of the glass blocks, in the imposing sculptural staircase, in the textiles (Gastón y Daniela) that adorn the space, in the glazed ceramic washbasin (Maora), and even in the smallest details such as the bar cabinet handles or the magnificent Brutalist-inspired bookcase's finishes: unique pieces that evoke the authenticity of artisan tradition.

A space to explore with your senses

The project designed by our interior design studio is inspired by the essence of the Mediterranean, capturing its light, colors, and warmth. Upon entering, the traveler finds themselves immersed in an atmosphere that evokes the feeling of a home away from home. The space is a silent storyteller, where every element, from the choice of materials to the play of light and shadow, contributes to a unique sensory experience.

The curved sofa, completely integrated into the carpentry, is the perfect spot to pause, browse a book, plan the next destination, or simply let yourself be carried away by the atmosphere of the place.

The selection of books and decorative objects at the bookstore, curated by Paloma Richi of Pujar con Arte, pays homage to the spirit of the Grand Tour, those 18th-century aristocratic journeys in which young Europeans traveled the world to complete their education.

The journey begins with a conversation; you are invited to enter, to feel at home.
In a pleasant living room, a world of possibilities opens up to create an unforgettable journey. An elegant striped sofa becomes the meeting point, accompanied by rattan armchairs that evoke artisan tradition. In the center, a table with an Emperador marble base adds character to the space. The lighting completes the room: the TMD lamp in satin nickel, with its linen shade, an iconic creation by Miguel Milá, projects a soft and welcoming light along with minimalist wall lights with lacquer details, exclusively designed by Terria for NUBA.

The experience does not end here.

In the background, behind the curtains, a space for awakening the imagination is hidden: the cinema/theater.
We enter a room where time seems to stand still. The walls, upholstered in linen with vertical wooden lines, create an enveloping atmosphere. The Terria-designed wall lights offer a play of light that allows the room to be transformed according to the needs of the moment, from a relaxed conversation to a total audiovisual immersion experience.

“Always. The traveler returns to the road.”

"It's not true. The journey never ends. Only the travelers end. And even they can extend themselves in memory, in remembrance, in stories. When the traveler sat on the sand of the beach and said: "there's nothing more to see," he knew that wasn't true. The end of one journey is only the beginning of another. You have to see what you haven't seen, see again what you've already seen, see in spring what you saw in summer, see by day what you saw by night, with the sun what you previously saw in the rain, see the sprouting green, the ripe fruit, the stone that has moved, the shadow that wasn't there before. You have to retrace steps already taken, to repeat them and to forge new paths alongside them. You have to start the journey anew. Always. The traveler returns to the road."

Through the sculptural staircase, we access the upper floor, where we find a new level of experiences.

Symbols are everywhere, waiting to be discovered: the triangular chair backs allude to gastronomy, the circular latticework evokes well-being, and the square canvases represent art. Every detail has been integrated so that these concepts are not just an idea, but a tangible experience.

Complementing these are Japanese-inspired chairs, made of two-tone oak wood, and a high-gloss lacquered bar cabinet with handles exclusively designed by Terria.

Lighting: a fundamental element of the experience

Light guides and transforms the experience; it is both matter and emotion.

The concept developed by Terria is divided into two: very warm and inviting lighting on the ground floor, aligned with the feeling of home, in contrast with scene-based lighting for the upper floor.

The space features pieces designed by Terria exclusively for NUBA, as well as luminaires by Miguel Milá for Santa & Cole.

A new way to understand travel.

Studio NUBA is not just a meeting point, it's a space for inspiration, a place where dreams take shape and where every element has a purpose: to awaken emotions and accompany the traveler on their journey.

A space where the essence of travel is felt in every texture, in the light, in the smells... It's the place where the travel experience begins long before departure and lingers after returning home.
