A family oasis in Bilbao with touches of tropical air.
A decoration project for a large, unique family that has just landed in Bilbao after living for a long time in Costa Rica.
He, an advertising expert, and she, a lover of gadgets and art, found in the result of this project their perfect oasis, where the tropical essence mixes with Bilbao tradition to create a cozy atmosphere.
From the lush lands of Costa Rica to the streets of Getxo, in this project we wanted to merge the best of both worlds. We insisted a lot on the house reflecting those who live there, with their experiences, their memories and giving harmony to the whole. A house that can only be for them.
The color, light and wild nature of Costa Rica is mixed with great English influences in the use of fabrics and the bohemian mix. The Neguri houses have always stood out for having that characteristic "British" air, which came from the commercial ties between Vizcaya and the English coasts.
The inclusion of natural plants in all spaces, the use of natural raffia papers (in the dining room), jute rugs and the use of vibrant color reminds us of those tropical lands. However, the bohemian mix of textiles, the main wallpaper and the use of more classic pieces of furniture remind us of a more English and "cozy" atmosphere.
In this project, the pieces of furniture that were inherited from the family take center stage, giving them different uses and, above all, a new life.
A grandma's display case that returns to its place with cheerful bird paper and with a lighting fixture integrated inside that creates a surprise effect.
There are also other more contemporary pieces of furniture such as the dining table, the coffee table or the office chair, designed and manufactured in our workshop.
The kitchen office becomes a cozy, fun place with great personality. We have added a wooden bar in the window to create more uses and enjoy the views of the estuary.
